Norton’s Playground

This is Norton. Norton does not care for closed doors, and he expresses his displeasure by scratching carpet in doorways. His mom and her roomies are moving out of their student housing, but we’re not sweating the security deposit. A few quick patches in the carpet and it’s like Norton was never there.

Let There be Light!

We bought our house in November of 2021 and have spent the last three and a half years upgrading, updating and doing small renovations! This spring, I decided it was time to replace the builder-grade boob lights with something more custom. We also added LED lights over the peninsula in our kitchen because I LOVE light! You’ll notice plenty else has changed in these two pictures because I truly believe in loving your space, which I do.

Office Makeover!

In my full time life, I work from home and in my off-time, I’m a huge crafter! When we moved from our old house, I set up a folding table that functioned as my office for more than a year and my craft supplies often lived on our kitchen counter and dining room table. Last summer one of our spare bedrooms got a makeover into an office and craft space, and now my creative mess is (mostly) contained to one place!

That Deck Ain’t Big Enough to Drink a Beer On

I come from a line of home builders, renovators, flippers and hard workers of all kinds. My grandpa was an electrician for the FAA and after he retired, he and my grandma remodeled and later built homes in the Asheville area. My grandpa came to my house only once and at the time we were heavily under construction, but his only comment on the entire home was “That deck ain’t even big enough to drink a beer on”. We’ve just wrapped up the rebuilding this spring, plus the addition of a stock tank pool! Find me in my new happy place all summer long.
